Description
Communicative Phrasal Verbs is a collection of practical activities aimed at helping students learn and practise over 200 most commonly used phrasal verbs in English. It is organised into 20 theme-based units and each unit follows the same pattern of 3 steps, from controlled practice in the form of sentence and meaning match to free practice in the form of conversation questions.
The sentence match part of every unit allows the student to notice the context in which a particular verb is used together with its type (transitive, intransitive, separable, inseparable). Matching the sentence halves helps the student work out the meaning of each verb, which they can then test in the exercise that follows- match the meaning. Part three of every unit-speaking- doubles as a gap fill and communicative practice whereby the student must complete the questions with the correct particle based on the previous exercises and further implement the verbs in speaking. To complement it all, the 20 units come with 4 revision sheets, which provide an opportunity to consolidate and reflect on the material covered.
The book also features some bonus material in the form of mini dialogues and study cards. Study cards are mini flash cards each containing a phrasal verb used in a collocation with a noun or an adverb and these can be used as a revision tool.
The e-book is best suited for B1, B2 and C1 students and can be used as a self-study workbook as well as a great teaching resource to complement any course.

What a great resource! This is second book I have used by the Three Wise Kangaroos and am so pleased with the materials which have been both engaging and relevant. I love how the exercises are designed so that they can be used either together as a complete lesson or individually as topic reviews, vocabulary learning, or fillers.
Looking forward to my next book to add to my collection. 🙂
